Naked 2 Winter Eye Look

Heyy!

I thought that I’d do a slightly different post today which I’ve been thinking about doing for a while.Recently I’ve re-discoevered my love for the Urban Decay Naked 2 pallet. By no means am I any good at make-up but its something I enjoy doing and therefore I thought I’d share this look with you.

Just before I get into the post itself, I’ve made 2 vlogs recently over on my youtube channel ‘ThatGirlKatieVlogs’ and it’d be great if you could check them out – https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFiwalcMr0grb0fltnnqtBw

To start off I’m going to share a picture of the look I created and then I’ll talk through the brushes and shadow shades which I used.

blog-eyeshadow-look.jpg

This photo was only taken on my iPhone 6s’ front camera so it’s by no means the best but I’m sure you can get the general gist of what the shadow looked like. Below I’ll include a picture of the pallet so when I name the shades you can actually see what they look like.

naked 2.jpg

Firstly I apply the Urban Decay primer potion all over my eyelid in the shade original. This stops my eyeshadow creasing which is always a problem for me and helps it to last all day although this step is completely optional.

Next I take my 3 brushes which are Real Technique bold metal 201 crease brush and then the shading brush and then the base shadow brush from the purple eye set which are all in the picture below in order from left to right.

201-brushREAL TECHNIQUES SHADING BRUSH BASE SHADOW BRUSH COMPARISON BEAUTY BLOG FUTILITIES AND MORE-3.jpg

Eye Shadow look:

  1. Take Foxy all over the lid with the shading brush as a bade colour.
  2. Take Tease through the crease on the 201 crease brush.
  3. Add a little bit of Pistol into the crease to deepen it up and add shimmer on the 201 crease brush.
  4. Place Suspect all over the moving part of the eyelid with the base shadow brush.
  5. Add YDK over the top of this with the base shadow brush for extra shimmer using MAC prep + prime spray (optional).
  6. If desired used Bootycal on the same brush on the inner third of the lid to lighten things up.
  7. Place Verve into the inner corner using your finger to add inner corner highlighter
  8. If you want to bring the look under your eye too, drag Tease along the lower lash line using the base shadow brush.

So that’s generally the look I create on a day to day basis. I’ll now share with you the products I used on the rest of my face when creating this looking as it was mostly first impressions.

Face:

Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation – Ivory (this oxidises super badly on my skin so be careful).

Collection lasting perfection concealer – Light 1

Benefit hoola bronzer

Lottie London highlighting pallet – Shimmer Squad

MAC studio fix powder – NW20

Brows:

Freedom brow powder – Taupe

Benefit ready set brow

Eyes:

Soap and Glory supercat skinny eyeliner – Black

Maybelline luscious lash sensational – Very black

Essence lash princess mascara – Black

Drugstore Full Face Of Makeup Favourites

Heyy!

So my aim for this blog this year is to try and upload an awful lot more and write much more about the things I love. I have only done 2 makeup related posts before but I have gained such an obsession for makeup in the past year that I’d love to share with you what I find out about it. Now that my issues regarding having a broken laptop not allowing me to upload have stopped I wanna try and post multiple times each month in 2017 as a pose to once per month. However, this may not go to plan when I go back to college on Monday as I won’t have as much free time but I can at least try!

All of this was beside the point anyway. In this post I’m gonna be sharing my favourite drugstore products for each part of your face in order to make a full face of makeup. Some things e.g. eye primer I won’t include as I don’t have a drugstore one which I’ve found that I love and would want to recommend but if you know of one, let me know in the comments section down below and I’ll be sure to check it out. I’m also going to try and include images of all products mentioned and a link to where it’s sold.

Highlighter: I’m such a sucker for high end highlighters but theres one I have found which I feel is a great dupe for ‘Mary – Lou’ form The Balm. It’s called ‘Goddess of Love’ and it’s a triple baked highlighter by ‘I heart makeup’. It’s nice and subtle but also is build able for when you want a more intense glow. The shimmer is so pretty but isn’t like pure glitter that shines off your face…instead it’s more of a glowy look.

http://www.superdrug.com/I-Heart-Make-Up/I-Heart-Highlighter-Goddess-Of-Love-10g/p/982358

Blusher: There’s one blush which stands out to me as somebody who doesn’t wear blush very often. It’s the ‘Rose Gold’ blush by ‘Sleek’. I saw this in a youtube video back in May, went out and bought it and I haven’t looked back since. Plus for under £5 you can’t really go wrong. Theres also range of other shades if pinky blushes like this aren’t for you.

img_1549

http://www.superdrug.com/Sleek/Sleek-Shimmer-Blush-Rose-Gold/p/222205

Powder: Before purchasing a high end powder in August, everyday I’d use ‘Maybelline Matte Maker Mattifying Powder’. Always tend to use a powder which isn’t translucent as I often wear it without foundation and using this in shade 10 (classic ivory) gave me the coverage I desired. I still use it now over my high end powders to set under eye concealer as it’s only £3.99.

IMG_1550.JPG

Bronzer: Unfortunately this next product isn’t actually produced anymore but I thought I’d mention it anyway as it’s the only bronzer which I use from the drugstore. It’s ‘Accessorize’s Shimmering Powder’. As I have super light skin, this is one of the only bronzers I’ve ever found which doesn’t go orange and patchy on me.

img_1551img_1552

Foundation: It’s not very often I wear foundation but when I do I love a matte one and it’s more than likely going to be a Maybelline one. My favourite is probably something most people would hate and it’s their ‘Dream Velvet Foundation’. It has such a thick texture that I love and as I have quite dry skin, it glides over so smoothly covering spots as a pose to a more watery foundation. The double water formula of the foundation also means I can wear it for multiple days in a row without breaking out which I cannot do with other foundations.

IMG_1553.JPG

Eyeshadow: This is one of my favourite things to do in any makeup look and I almost never go a day without wearing it now that I’m at college and allowed to. I do use a different palette everyday and love both drugstore and high end eyeshades equally. If I had to pick just one though it’d be the ‘Makeup Revolution Iconic 3’ pallette. This is the perfect dupe for ‘Urban Decays’s Naked 3’ which I also own but I prefer this as it’s just so much more bendable. At just £4 you can’t really go wrong and that goes for any Revolution palette if pinky tones aren’t for you.

IMG_1555.JPG

http://www.superdrug.com/Makeup-Revolution/Makeup-Revolution-Redemption-Palette-Iconic-3/p/979710

Primer: Only recently have I started using primer and I’ve tried a fair few. As I mentioned earlier, I love a matte look rather than a dewy one from my foundation. For this reason I love the ‘Collection Primed and Ready mattifying pore minimiser’. Basically it does exactly what it says and helps your makeup to stay on all the. The product within the tube is a clear silicone like texture, similar to that of ‘Baby Skin’ but only a fraction of the price at£4.99. You can also get different finishes if matte isn’t for you.IMG_1557.JPG

http://www.superdrug.com/Collection/Collection-Pore-Minimiser-Primer-2/p/610904

Mascara: When it comes to mascara I’ll choose drugstore every time and maybelline are like my holy grail. I could recommend their whole range but the 2 I’ve been loving most lately are ‘Lash Sensational luscious oil blend’ and ‘The Falsies volume express’. Both work wonderfully together and give such extreme results that if you don’t like ‘false lash effect mascara’ you probably won’t like these.

Falsies – http://www.boots.com/en/Maybelline-Mascara-Falsies-Waterproof-Black-9ml_1416719/

Brows: Well this is probably one of my least favourite parts of doing my makeup which I see as more of a chore because my eyebrows are just such a awkward shape to work with. In August I found the best product to work so far for my brown shape, type and colour which is ‘Freedom Duo brow powder- Taupe’ It’s a dupe for the ‘Anastasia Bevely Hills’ brow powders and pomades but only a fraction of the price at £3. They also do a pomade version but the shade range isn’t as good meaning I can’t get taupe and have to opt for soft brown instead which is too dark. The product works really well for sparse eyebrows with a ‘Real Techniques Brow Brush’.

img_1560    img_1561

http://www.superdrug.com/MUA-Eyes/Freedom-Duo-Eyebrow-Powder-Blond/p/565900

Concealer: For somebody with spotty skin that breaks out at the sight of foundation like me, concealer is a staple in your everyday makeup routine. Recently I’ve started using high end ones but I’ve been using drugstore for around 4 years previous to this so I definitely have my favourites. For spot I’d recommend ‘Rimmel Wake Me Up’. The shade ranges are so diverse, it does the job although it only lasts around 8 hours and it’s only £6. I’m sure you’ve heard this before but for under-eye concealer, ‘Maybelline Eye Eraser’ is always my choice as it covers dark circles and my red cheeks so well. However, the shade ranges are very limited which can be a drawback.

img_1563  img_1564

Wake me up: http://www.boots.com/en/Rimmel-Wake-Me-Up-Concealer_1253837/

Eye eraser: http://www.boots.com/en/Maybelline-Eraser-Eye-Concealer_1321843/

Brow Gel: This is one of those things that I’ll use if I’m doing a full face of makeup and I’ll usually opt for a high-end option like ‘benefits gimme brow’. Although I haven’t tried many  drugstore brow gels, a stand out to me is the ‘Maybelline brow drama’.I tend to use this in medium brown but theres a range of colour options, including transparent and for under £5 you can’t really go wrong.

img_1565

http://www.boots.com/en/Maybelline-Brow-Drama-Sculpting-Mascara_1365297/

Lips: I’m the type of person that sticks to nudes when it comes to lip products because I struggle to pull out there colours off as I’m so pale. Most of my lipsticks I own are from MAC but I get along so well with the ‘NYX Lip Lingerie’ collection. I own 3 and my favourite is ’04 Exotic’.  They dry completely matte and have a nice liquid texture when applying. Their also long lasting and tend to last for most of they day. To be fair for £6.50 I don’t think you could want much more from a liquid lip product.

img_1562

http://www.boots.com/en/NYX-Professional-Makeup-Lip-Lingerie-Lipstick_1822563/

Contour: I’m not a big fan of contouring or very good at it…instead I see it as a opportunity to add some colour to my pale skin tone. A product I’ve been loving is ‘Collection’s contour sticks’ for only £3!!! They blend like a dream and give a perfect colour to your face. I use mine in taupe and this works really well but there are other darker shades available.

img_1567

http://www.boots.com/en/Collection-Contour-Stick_1876220/

So that’s all the products I have to mention in this post. Never when I started writing this did I realise it’d take 3 days to complete!

If you’d like a high-end version of this, be sure to let me know/leave a like on this post as I’ve really enjoyed writing this. Apologies for any spelling mistakes, I do not have the energy to proof read the whole thing right now! haha.

Be back soon,

Katie xoxo

Looking Back On 2016 Month By Month

Heyy!

It’s now officially 2017 and there sure are some things I’m happy to leave behind in 2016 and some things I want to bring forward with me into this year. The main point of this post is that I wanted to take the time to reflect upon my year month by month and basically sum up how it was. Yes, some months are definitely going to be much more action packed and exciting than others but having constant ups just isn’t reality.

January:

Well January was just how it is for most people really, dull and a little bit boring but a few things did happen throughout the month. Of course I was in my final year at school and that meant undertaking 2 weeks of mocks just after the Christmas break which I wasn’t exactly a fan of even though nobody really likes exams do they?! I got through them fairly well and didn’t let it get me down too much. This month also involved having a interview to get into sixth form which may not sound like much but for a shy person like me, it was quite a big deal and I was so happy I did it in the end and ended up with a place. On the brighter side, I started to get my room the way I wanted it which was a progressing project throughout the year which has now been complete. (I’ll put a image below of what we did.)

IMG_1139.JPG

February:

Not much happened at all in this month. I got my results for my mocks (3 A’s 3B’S C) which I was quite shocked and very pleased with. Half term also happened so I spent a to of time in Liverpool as it’s one of my favourite places. We also had our year 11 photos done and were just getting closer in the build up to GCSE’s.

March:

The most exciting thing which happened in March was most likely the snow day! It’s not often that it snows in England and actually sticks so when it does, it’s kinda a big deal. We even got a day off school because it was so deep. Easter also came around which meant just over 2 weeks off school before the term when GCSE’s actually started for real.

IMG_0367.JPG

April:

Despite the fact GCSE’s were now under a month away, I had the most exciting month I could. This was mainly due to the fact that I was off for half of the month with the easter break. I travelled to places like Leeds, Liverpool, Media City and so on. The days were getting longer and warmer and school was so close to ending which for me was the best news ever. I even managed to meet the vamps in this month, something I’ve been trying to do for many years.

May:

GCSE exams started and the end was finally within sight. Despite being ill for a number of my exams, I tried my best and that was all I could’ve done. After each exam I’d take my books and set them on fire, something which provided me with great motivation to get through each day! After the English lit exam on may 27 I got the best news ever that we were going on study leave and SCHOOL WAS OVER!!

June:

Most likely my favourite month of the year, it just was the best and I didn’t stop for the entire month. Now I was just going to school for a few hours each day on odd days to do exams. June 16th flew around which meant it was finally my 16th birthday. I spent the day in Liverpool (of course) with friends and then had a Hawaiian themed party at the night time. The following day was also my last exam (physics) and I left school forever!! 2 days later I went on holiday to Dorset for 2 weeks and it was honestly so much fun.

July:

The main point of this month was to unwind and that’s exactly what I did. At the start of the month I went on a sixth form taster day to helming decide which subjects I’d want to take in September which wasn’t actually too bad. There were also some hot days which involved sun bathing and of course Pokemon Go came out…how could I forget?!

August:

The highlight without a doubt was going to London for the day although the trip was cut short due to it being 32 DEGREES!!!! M&M world is where I want to live when I’m older. I also got my GCSE results (A 4B’s 5c’S) which were lower than predicted but considering I’d been so ill when taking the exams, I was happy with this and I got everything I needed to enrol at college later in the month.

September:

The month started out great with a weekend in Yorkshire as a treat for my GCSE results. I visited Filey, Scarborough and Bridlington. I also started college 2 days after coming back which was such a anticipated thing for me although it all went smoothly. My final choices of subjects were IT, business and health and social care(how I regret taking that). It took a while for me to settle in but I got there in the end and now it’s all good.

October:

Nothing special happened in October, I travelled around a little to the Peak District and seemed to spend an awful lot more time shopping in my free periods at college.

November:

The main highlight of the month would’ve been going to Blackpool illuminations which was FREEZING. I made a vlog all about the day over on my youtube channel (ThatGirlKatieVlogs). Christmas was getting closer and I spent more time shopping an at the Christmas markets in Manchester.

December:

Christmas and the new year were just around the corner. Everything was getting calmer as we began the unwind to Christmas Day. When Christmas Day came, I got everything I could’ve wished for and before we knew it 2017 was upon us.

Congratulations if you made it to this point!! I hope y’all have the most amazing 2017 and I’ll be back very soon.

Katie xoxo

Blackpool Illuminations 2016

Heyy!

I’m back once again with a slightly less serious and controversial post as what my last one was which seems a little more like me. So last Saturday (bonfire night) I went to Blackpool illuminations. Of course, they were as pretty as ever and I documented most of the afternoon to share with the world.

A nice little addition which I noticed this year was he fact that at the end of the illuminations, you could make a donation and if you did, you got to press a button which lit up the final light which said ‘thankyou’. I thought this was such a special addition to the tradition, especially for family’s with younger children.

I’d like to take a few seconds also to ask you to check out my travel vlog of the day – https://youtu.be/dWBb8h1V5Jo

Its by no means perfect, rather just a hobby of mine. I try to vlog around once per month whenever I go somewhere new/travel as I find it really fun to film footage and hen edit it afterwards (which is aside from the point of this post.)

Here’s a few images from the illuminations but you can see so much more in the vlog (link above).

By far my favourite section – nickelodeon illuminations!! Including characters from spongebob, Dora the explorer and more!

That’s all until next time…be back soon,

A weekend in Yorkshire

Heyy!

So I went to Yorkshire from 2nd-5th September and I’ve been meaning to post about it for so long but just haven’t gotten round to it. I’ve just started college so as you can imagine, everything’s been a bit crazy recently. I did however manage to make a travel vlog of the whole weekend.

Check it out here : https://youtu.be/SsqkYYYLnlo

Anyway more to the point, I thought I’d share some images with you from each of the days!

Friday September 2nd – Filey

Most of this day was spent travelling but I did manage to capture this insane sunset!!
We had the most lush accommodation and if you check out the travel vlog (link above) you’ll be able to see a tour of just how amazing it was!

Saturday 3rd September – Scarborough

Again, the majority of the day is in my vlog as I saw this as the main thing I wanted to focus on capturing footage for.

Here’s a quick snap from the top of the gardens overlooking the sea front before the weather came to ruin the day.

Sunday 4th September – Scarborough and Bridlington

Again, a brilliant day but very tiring with a morning in Scarborough and afternoon in Bridlington. I spent less time getting footage for the vlog today but there was some and instead took more images.

(All of these are from Bridlington)
So that’s it, Monday came around and we went home and reality began again 😦 although it was a fabulous get away.

Be back soon(ish) knowing me! Haha

London Trip

Heyy!

Just over a week ago now, on August 6th I spent the day in London. I did actually vlog the entire day if you’d like to check it out here – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rnTmiI2isKg

For this blog post I thought I’d share some of the pictures i managed to take there. It’s just such a photogenic place but we did have to cut the day short as it was 30 degrees and this made it very hard to do much at all. Therefore I didn’t get to go to oxford street or Buckingham place but everywhere is pretty much is here.

So first up here is a close up of Big Ben when we were right under it on the tour bus. ITS HUGE!

Of course opposite Big Ben is one of my favourite sights, the London eye. It’d just so beautiful and I hope one day I will be able to go on it but it’s so hard to afford.

Tower bridge is another super scenic place – perfect for anybody interested in photography or anything along those lines.

Here also are a few shots from buildings etc which are surrounding the tower bridge area.

Oh and who could forgot, my most favourite shop in the entire world. If your only going to one shop whilst in London it has to be m&m world!! The whole shop even smells of chocolate. However try not to go at peak times as it can get ridiculously busy.

So that’s all I have to post until next time but tour buses are great with commentary as you really get to learn about London and the history it has to it which you otherwise may not know and they aren’t that much dearer than the tube when booked in advance online.

Be back soon,

Katie xox

Holiday 2016

Heyy!

So as some of you may know, I went on holiday for 2 weeks to Weymouth in Dorset recently. I thought it’d be nice to share some pictures and stories from there with you all today. There are quite a few though so this could be quite a long post.

I’ve also been considering making a YouTube channel which will be makeup/beauty related. If I do create one I’ll edit this post and put a link to it as I’ve been working on making some videos lately with it being the summer holidays and having lots of free time.

I hope you enjoy it;

So this is unlike me but on day 2 we went and visited some hidden beaches down country lanes. Next to one of them I found these beautifully houses which had been turned into pubs.

On one of our trips we also came across durdle door which some of you may know better as the Jurassic coast. It was so insanely beautiful and I think these pictures show just that.

Now this is one of my favourite snaps. We went to watch the sunset just above the sea at bowleaze cove and wow isn’t it just so beautiful?! I would love to be able to watch it every single night.

We also visited Bournemouth whilst down there. These are the gardens which take you from the shops to the beach and vice versa. Everything is so scenic and it literally looks like you could’ve easily taken this abroad.

Of course the olympics were a few years ago now but I go and visit this whenever in Weymouth and compare the pictures from when I was 12 until now.

We also went for a walk along the Weymouth beach and came across this beach huts. The colours are so pretty and I would love to own one of these one days!

So that’s all I have to share with you today. There were also like 20 different snapchat geo-filters on the way there and home as its a 6 hour drive which I found very exciting.

I’d like to apologise for any spelling mistakes and I hope you’ve enjoyed reading. I’ll be back soon,

Katie xox

16th Birthday Haul

Heyy!

Yesterday was my 16th birthday (June 16) and I got quite a few nice things which I would like to share with you.

Disclaimer: I’m not trying to show if any way and I’m truly greatful for everything I got. Also I saved up and paid £200 towards some of my bigger gifts

First up I got this Polaroid display frame as a surprise off my mum from new look. I love it so much and some of the pictures already inside are just so cute (especially the unicorn ones) that I only replaced two!

I then received the too faced chocolate Bon Bon pallets and omg the packaging is the prettiest thing!! You only have to open it the tiniest bit and the smell of chocolate is so so good and all of the colours are insanely pigmented.

This was also another suprise off my mum from new look and another unicorn!! It’ll fit perfectly inside my display unit from ikea.

My mum also bought this cup from new look and how pretty is it?! The colours of the unicorn and design are just insane.

I did actually have a nightmare trying to get hold of these adidas baby pink superstars but I managed to eventually. I think I’m actually in love with the colours of them in all honesty.

The tiara ring from Pandora is honestly going to be my new baby. It’s my third ring now and it looks so good on especially with other ‘stacker rings’. Unfortunately my camera wouldn’t quite focuse to show just how pretty it is.

Now onto one of my main presents, the Sony cyber-shot DSC HX90 camera. I used it to vlog yesterday and the quality is INSANE!!

I had the mini hoola bronzer for a while so I decided to invest in the full size one whilst birthday shopping yesterday. I haven’t tried it yet but I’m sure I’m going to love it.

Now onto my biggest present, the iPad mini 4 in gold 64gb. I had the original one for a few years but it was starting to get old and slow down so I decided to go for this and what a good decision it was!

Last but not least is ‘blankety’ from Mac. It has an amplified finish and the colour is such a nice nude!!

Well now my fingers are officially aching! I apologise for any spelling / grammar mistakes etc and hope you enjoyed reading

See you soon,

Katie xox

Summers Finally Arriving!

Heyy!

So this is a bit of a random post but the idea just popped into my mind so we’re gonna go with it.
I’m sure you know, the British weather is always cold and wet and we never really get much of a summer. However this week we hit temperatures of around 30 degrees which is pretty amazing for May in my opinion!

One of the most beautiful things about May has to be the blossoms on trees. Although they only last around a week, they are just so photogenic and pretty to look at!!

Of course with summer comes the longer days too which I love so much. This was taken at around 9pm the other night and you can’t beat a good sun set picture right?!

I’m sure you’ve seen these for your clouds, but believe it or not the sky can actually be blue in England!! I love the clouds in May though, you can see so many different shapes from them. Oh and doesn’t the sun just make everything seem so much brighter and lighten everybody’s mood.

Well whatever you decide to do, I hope you all make the most of the summer, or whatever we get of it…enjoy it whilst it lasts!

I’ll be back soon,
Katie xox

This year so far…

Heyy!

Sorry I’ve not posted in a while, I’ve just been so busy with my exams coming up so fast now. Anyway, I thought I’d share with you some images which I’ve took (mostly this year) because why not.

Also, all of these images have been taken on my iPhone 6S…not a professional camera so I do apologise that they aren’t too quality.

I hope that you like them 🙂

Just another boring motorway picture, I know but it isn’t often England that the sky looks like this!

A quick snap from trinity shopping centre in Leeds, with the added snapchat filter of course.

Albert docks in Liverpool – Easter weekend

A postcard which shows an overview of Liverpool at night, I love this so much!!

Snow is my favourite thing, everything’s just so much more pretty despite this being in the middle of March.

Going for a little walk along the beach a while ago.

While I hope you’ve liked looking through some of this and I’m sorry for the very short upload.

Thanks for reading and I’ll be back soon,

Katie xox
