Naked 2 Winter Eye Look

I thought that I’d do a slightly different post today which I’ve been thinking about doing for a while.Recently I’ve re-discoevered my love for the Urban Decay Naked 2 pallet. By no means am I any good at make-up but its something I enjoy doing and therefore I thought I’d share this look with you.

Just before I get into the post itself, I’ve made 2 vlogs recently over on my youtube channel ‘ThatGirlKatieVlogs’ and it’d be great if you could check them out –

To start off I’m going to share a picture of the look I created and then I’ll talk through the brushes and shadow shades which I used.

This photo was only taken on my iPhone 6s’ front camera so it’s by no means the best but I’m sure you can get the general gist of what the shadow looked like. Below I’ll include a picture of the pallet so when I name the shades you can actually see what they look like.

naked 2.jpg

Firstly I apply the Urban Decay primer potion all over my eyelid in the shade original. This stops my eyeshadow creasing which is always a problem for me and helps it to last all day although this step is completely optional.

Next I take my 3 brushes which are Real Technique bold metal 201 crease brush and then the shading brush and then the base shadow brush from the purple eye set which are all in the picture below in order from left to right.

Eye Shadow look:

  1. Take Foxy all over the lid with the shading brush as a bade colour.
  2. Take Tease through the crease on the 201 crease brush.
  3. Add a little bit of Pistol into the crease to deepen it up and add shimmer on the 201 crease brush.
  4. Place Suspect all over the moving part of the eyelid with the base shadow brush.
  5. Add YDK over the top of this with the base shadow brush for extra shimmer using MAC prep + prime spray (optional).
  6. If desired used Bootycal on the same brush on the inner third of the lid to lighten things up.
  7. Place Verve into the inner corner using your finger to add inner corner highlighter
  8. If you want to bring the look under your eye too, drag Tease along the lower lash line using the base shadow brush.

So that’s generally the look I create on a day to day basis. I’ll now share with you the products I used on the rest of my face when creating this looking as it was mostly first impressions.

Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation – Ivory (this oxidises super badly on my skin so be careful).

Collection lasting perfection concealer – Light 1

Benefit hoola bronzer

Lottie London highlighting pallet – Shimmer Squad

MAC studio fix powder – NW20

Freedom brow powder – Taupe

Benefit ready set brow

Soap and Glory supercat skinny eyeliner – Black

Maybelline luscious lash sensational – Very black

Essence lash princess mascara – Black

Drugstore Full Face Of Makeup Favourites

So my aim for this blog this year is to try and upload an awful lot more and write much more about the things I love. I have only done 2 makeup related posts before but I have gained such an obsession for makeup in the past year that I’d love to share with you what I find out about it. Now that my issues regarding having a broken laptop not allowing me to upload have stopped I wanna try and post multiple times each month in 2017 as a pose to once per month. However, this may not go to plan when I go back to college on Monday as I won’t have as much free time but I can at least try!

All of this was beside the point anyway. In this post I’m gonna be sharing my favourite drugstore products for each part of your face in order to make a full face of makeup. Some things e.g. eye primer I won’t include as I don’t have a drugstore one which I’ve found that I love and would want to recommend but if you know of one, let me know in the comments section down below and I’ll be sure to check it out. I’m also going to try and include images of all products mentioned and a link to where it’s sold.

Highlighter: I’m such a sucker for high end highlighters but theres one I have found which I feel is a great dupe for ‘Mary – Lou’ form The Balm. It’s called ‘Goddess of Love’ and it’s a triple baked highlighter by ‘I heart makeup’. It’s nice and subtle but also is build able for when you want a more intense glow. The shimmer is so pretty but isn’t like pure glitter that shines off your face…instead it’s more of a glowy look.

Blusher: There’s one blush which stands out to me as somebody who doesn’t wear blush very often. It’s the ‘Rose Gold’ blush by ‘Sleek’. I saw this in a youtube video back in May, went out and bought it and I haven’t looked back since. Plus for under £5 you can’t really go wrong. Theres also range of other shades if pinky blushes like this aren’t for you.

Powder: Before purchasing a high end powder in August, everyday I’d use ‘Maybelline Matte Maker Mattifying Powder’. Always tend to use a powder which isn’t translucent as I often wear it without foundation and using this in shade 10 (classic ivory) gave me the coverage I desired. I still use it now over my high end powders to set under eye concealer as it’s only £3.99.

Bronzer: Unfortunately this next product isn’t actually produced anymore but I thought I’d mention it anyway as it’s the only bronzer which I use from the drugstore. It’s ‘Accessorize’s Shimmering Powder’. As I have super light skin, this is one of the only bronzers I’ve ever found which doesn’t go orange and patchy on me.

Foundation: It’s not very often I wear foundation but when I do I love a matte one and it’s more than likely going to be a Maybelline one. My favourite is probably something most people would hate and it’s their ‘Dream Velvet Foundation’. It has such a thick texture that I love and as I have quite dry skin, it glides over so smoothly covering spots as a pose to a more watery foundation. The double water formula of the foundation also means I can wear it for multiple days in a row without breaking out which I cannot do with other foundations.

Eyeshadow: This is one of my favourite things to do in any makeup look and I almost never go a day without wearing it now that I’m at college and allowed to. I do use a different palette everyday and love both drugstore and high end eyeshades equally. If I had to pick just one though it’d be the ‘Makeup Revolution Iconic 3’ pallette. This is the perfect dupe for ‘Urban Decays’s Naked 3’ which I also own but I prefer this as it’s just so much more bendable. At just £4 you can’t really go wrong and that goes for any Revolution palette if pinky tones aren’t for you.

Primer: Only recently have I started using primer and I’ve tried a fair few. As I mentioned earlier, I love a matte look rather than a dewy one from my foundation. For this reason I love the ‘Collection Primed and Ready mattifying pore minimiser’. Basically it does exactly what it says and helps your makeup to stay on all the. The product within the tube is a clear silicone like texture, similar to that of ‘Baby Skin’ but only a fraction of the price at£4.99. You can also get different finishes if matte isn’t for you.IMG_1557.JPG

Mascara: When it comes to mascara I’ll choose drugstore every time and maybelline are like my holy grail. I could recommend their whole range but the 2 I’ve been loving most lately are ‘Lash Sensational luscious oil blend’ and ‘The Falsies volume express’. Both work wonderfully together and give such extreme results that if you don’t like ‘false lash effect mascara’ you probably won’t like these.

Brows: Well this is probably one of my least favourite parts of doing my makeup which I see as more of a chore because my eyebrows are just such a awkward shape to work with. In August I found the best product to work so far for my brown shape, type and colour which is ‘Freedom Duo brow powder- Taupe’ It’s a dupe for the ‘Anastasia Bevely Hills’ brow powders and pomades but only a fraction of the price at £3. They also do a pomade version but the shade range isn’t as good meaning I can’t get taupe and have to opt for soft brown instead which is too dark. The product works really well for sparse eyebrows with a ‘Real Techniques Brow Brush’.

Concealer: For somebody with spotty skin that breaks out at the sight of foundation like me, concealer is a staple in your everyday makeup routine. Recently I’ve started using high end ones but I’ve been using drugstore for around 4 years previous to this so I definitely have my favourites. For spot I’d recommend ‘Rimmel Wake Me Up’. The shade ranges are so diverse, it does the job although it only lasts around 8 hours and it’s only £6. I’m sure you’ve heard this before but for under-eye concealer, ‘Maybelline Eye Eraser’ is always my choice as it covers dark circles and my red cheeks so well. However, the shade ranges are very limited which can be a drawback.

Wake me up:

Eye eraser:

Brow Gel: This is one of those things that I’ll use if I’m doing a full face of makeup and I’ll usually opt for a high-end option like ‘benefits gimme brow’. Although I haven’t tried many  drugstore brow gels, a stand out to me is the ‘Maybelline brow drama’.I tend to use this in medium brown but theres a range of colour options, including transparent and for under £5 you can’t really go wrong.

Lips: I’m the type of person that sticks to nudes when it comes to lip products because I struggle to pull out there colours off as I’m so pale. Most of my lipsticks I own are from MAC but I get along so well with the ‘NYX Lip Lingerie’ collection. I own 3 and my favourite is ’04 Exotic’.  They dry completely matte and have a nice liquid texture when applying. Their also long lasting and tend to last for most of they day. To be fair for £6.50 I don’t think you could want much more from a liquid lip product.

Contour: I’m not a big fan of contouring or very good at it…instead I see it as a opportunity to add some colour to my pale skin tone. A product I’ve been loving is ‘Collection’s contour sticks’ for only £3!!! They blend like a dream and give a perfect colour to your face. I use mine in taupe and this works really well but there are other darker shades available.

So that’s all the products I have to mention in this post. Never when I started writing this did I realise it’d take 3 days to complete!

If you’d like a high-end version of this, be sure to let me know/leave a like on this post as I’ve really enjoyed writing this. Apologies for any spelling mistakes, I do not have the energy to proof read the whole thing right now! haha.

Be back soon,

Katie xoxo

Summers Finally Arriving!

So this is a bit of a random post but the idea just popped into my mind so we’re gonna go with it.
I’m sure you know, the British weather is always cold and wet and we never really get much of a summer. However this week we hit temperatures of around 30 degrees which is pretty amazing for May in my opinion!

One of the most beautiful things about May has to be the blossoms on trees. Although they only last around a week, they are just so photogenic and pretty to look at!!

Of course with summer comes the longer days too which I love so much. This was taken at around 9pm the other night and you can’t beat a good sun set picture right?!

I’m sure you’ve seen these for your clouds, but believe it or not the sky can actually be blue in England!! I love the clouds in May though, you can see so many different shapes from them. Oh and doesn’t the sun just make everything seem so much brighter and lighten everybody’s mood.

Well whatever you decide to do, I hope you all make the most of the summer, or whatever we get of it…enjoy it whilst it lasts!

I’ll be back soon,

Makeup Favourites March 2016 (part 2)

So I’m back again with part two of my makeup favourites. I hope you liked part 1 and I’ll keep to the same format again. Enjoy 🙂

First up is this revolution highlighter in the shade hidden lights. It’s so pigmented and it’s only £1!! There’s also many other highlighter shades all for £1 too. Unfortunately it’s no longer available online but I’m sure it will be in superdrug stores.

My eyeshadow is the worst for creasing ever and the urban decay eyeshadow primer has put my problems to an end. It’s a bit more pricey at £16 but I’ve never found a drugstore primer which works for me. I’ve had this for 6 months now and it uses hardly any, so it’ll last you forever.

I’m sure you’ve heated of/seen this before but I thought I’d include it anyway – maybelline eraser eye. It’s the best concealer I have found for under eye circles but it does go down very fast!

Let’s talk about the lash sensational mascara. I’ve been using it for almost a year now and it’s by far the best mascara I’ve ever known especially considering it’s only drug store! It’s often compared to benefits roller lash but I’d choose this all the way. At £7.99 it’s definitely worth the money.

Before my lash sensational I use a volume mascara  and this has been my go to since I discovered it at chirstmas. It’s gives you so many lashes you didn’t even know we’re there but you do need another mascara for the length. At £6.99 it’s also very much worth every penny.

I’d wanted a matte lipgloss for so long and for just £4.99 sleek’s birthday suit  gave me exactly what I wanted. I was considering MACs range but for drugstore, this is just as good and there’s around 8 different colours
Last but not least let’s talk about eyebrows. My brows are already quite defined to start with so the rimmel eyebrow pencil provides me with just what I want. I use it everyday and have had this for a whole year now and there’s still a fair bit left and even better still, it’s only £2.99.

So that’s all I have for you, I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this post and I’ll be back very soon for my next one.

Katie xoxo

Makeup Favoruites March 2016 (part 1)

So for my very first post I thought I’d share with you a few of my favourite make up products. I’ll include images, prices and I’ll try and add a link to the products.

There’ll be both drugstore and high end products and i will split them up over 2 posts. ☺️

So first up is the Lush Bubblegum lip scrub. I only bought this a few days but it smells SO good!! The best bit is because it’s made from cater sugar, it’s edible too 😉 at £5.50 it’s quite pricy but defiantly worth it

This has to be an all time favourite! I’ve had this revolution sculpt and contour set since August and I love it, especially the bronzer. At just £3.50 this is such great value for money and the quality is great too. This is in the shade light – medium.

This maybelline master sculpt kit is also perfect the perfect contour and highlight kit. Along with a compact mirror and brush, it’s perfect to hair throw in your bag and go out with. It is however slightly dearer at £6.99
The naked 3 by urban decay is one of my favourite pallets! I love pinky shades which I know aren’t for most people, but if you like them it’s definitely the pallets for you. However at £38 it’s defiantly on the pricey side despite the quality.

A perfect lip duo is from MUA and is just £3!! Many shades are also available.

This dream velvet foundation is so light weight. It doesn’t make me break out and that’s what I love. At £7.99 it isn’t priced too high for a foundation either although it won’t last all day.

Alongside this is my holy grail wake me up concealer. I won’t leave the house without this on and it never makes me break out. This is in the shade ivory and has almost lasted me a year now. For £5.49 it’s definitely worth the money.

The maybelline matter maker is the perfect powder. It’s gives you colour without looking like you’re wearing anything and is just £3.99!

I’ve been using this as a high coverage foundation for a while now. Although it can cause break outs, it’s fine to use just once in a while and is priced at around £9

That’s all for now. I’ll be back with my next post to carry this on with some more lipsticks, concelars and mascaras.

Thanks for reading,
