Drugstore Full Face Of Makeup Favourites

Heyy!

So my aim for this blog this year is to try and upload an awful lot more and write much more about the things I love. I have only done 2 makeup related posts before but I have gained such an obsession for makeup in the past year that I’d love to share with you what I find out about it. Now that my issues regarding having a broken laptop not allowing me to upload have stopped I wanna try and post multiple times each month in 2017 as a pose to once per month. However, this may not go to plan when I go back to college on Monday as I won’t have as much free time but I can at least try!

All of this was beside the point anyway. In this post I’m gonna be sharing my favourite drugstore products for each part of your face in order to make a full face of makeup. Some things e.g. eye primer I won’t include as I don’t have a drugstore one which I’ve found that I love and would want to recommend but if you know of one, let me know in the comments section down below and I’ll be sure to check it out. I’m also going to try and include images of all products mentioned and a link to where it’s sold.

Highlighter: I’m such a sucker for high end highlighters but theres one I have found which I feel is a great dupe for ‘Mary – Lou’ form The Balm. It’s called ‘Goddess of Love’ and it’s a triple baked highlighter by ‘I heart makeup’. It’s nice and subtle but also is build able for when you want a more intense glow. The shimmer is so pretty but isn’t like pure glitter that shines off your face…instead it’s more of a glowy look.

Blusher: There’s one blush which stands out to me as somebody who doesn’t wear blush very often. It’s the ‘Rose Gold’ blush by ‘Sleek’. I saw this in a youtube video back in May, went out and bought it and I haven’t looked back since. Plus for under £5 you can’t really go wrong. Theres also range of other shades if pinky blushes like this aren’t for you.

Powder: Before purchasing a high end powder in August, everyday I’d use ‘Maybelline Matte Maker Mattifying Powder’. Always tend to use a powder which isn’t translucent as I often wear it without foundation and using this in shade 10 (classic ivory) gave me the coverage I desired. I still use it now over my high end powders to set under eye concealer as it’s only £3.99.

Bronzer: Unfortunately this next product isn’t actually produced anymore but I thought I’d mention it anyway as it’s the only bronzer which I use from the drugstore. It’s ‘Accessorize’s Shimmering Powder’. As I have super light skin, this is one of the only bronzers I’ve ever found which doesn’t go orange and patchy on me.

Foundation: It’s not very often I wear foundation but when I do I love a matte one and it’s more than likely going to be a Maybelline one. My favourite is probably something most people would hate and it’s their ‘Dream Velvet Foundation’. It has such a thick texture that I love and as I have quite dry skin, it glides over so smoothly covering spots as a pose to a more watery foundation. The double water formula of the foundation also means I can wear it for multiple days in a row without breaking out which I cannot do with other foundations.

Eyeshadow: This is one of my favourite things to do in any makeup look and I almost never go a day without wearing it now that I’m at college and allowed to. I do use a different palette everyday and love both drugstore and high end eyeshades equally. If I had to pick just one though it’d be the ‘Makeup Revolution Iconic 3’ pallette. This is the perfect dupe for ‘Urban Decays’s Naked 3’ which I also own but I prefer this as it’s just so much more bendable. At just £4 you can’t really go wrong and that goes for any Revolution palette if pinky tones aren’t for you.

Primer: Only recently have I started using primer and I’ve tried a fair few. As I mentioned earlier, I love a matte look rather than a dewy one from my foundation. For this reason I love the ‘Collection Primed and Ready mattifying pore minimiser’. Basically it does exactly what it says and helps your makeup to stay on all the. The product within the tube is a clear silicone like texture, similar to that of ‘Baby Skin’ but only a fraction of the price at£4.99. You can also get different finishes if matte isn’t for you.IMG_1557.JPG

Mascara: When it comes to mascara I’ll choose drugstore every time and maybelline are like my holy grail. I could recommend their whole range but the 2 I’ve been loving most lately are ‘Lash Sensational luscious oil blend’ and ‘The Falsies volume express’. Both work wonderfully together and give such extreme results that if you don’t like ‘false lash effect mascara’ you probably won’t like these.

Brows: Well this is probably one of my least favourite parts of doing my makeup which I see as more of a chore because my eyebrows are just such a awkward shape to work with. In August I found the best product to work so far for my brown shape, type and colour which is ‘Freedom Duo brow powder- Taupe’ It’s a dupe for the ‘Anastasia Bevely Hills’ brow powders and pomades but only a fraction of the price at £3. They also do a pomade version but the shade range isn’t as good meaning I can’t get taupe and have to opt for soft brown instead which is too dark. The product works really well for sparse eyebrows with a ‘Real Techniques Brow Brush’.

Concealer: For somebody with spotty skin that breaks out at the sight of foundation like me, concealer is a staple in your everyday makeup routine. Recently I’ve started using high end ones but I’ve been using drugstore for around 4 years previous to this so I definitely have my favourites. For spot I’d recommend ‘Rimmel Wake Me Up’. The shade ranges are so diverse, it does the job although it only lasts around 8 hours and it’s only £6. I’m sure you’ve heard this before but for under-eye concealer, ‘Maybelline Eye Eraser’ is always my choice as it covers dark circles and my red cheeks so well. However, the shade ranges are very limited which can be a drawback.

Brow Gel: This is one of those things that I’ll use if I’m doing a full face of makeup and I’ll usually opt for a high-end option like ‘benefits gimme brow’. Although I haven’t tried many  drugstore brow gels, a stand out to me is the ‘Maybelline brow drama’.I tend to use this in medium brown but theres a range of colour options, including transparent and for under £5 you can’t really go wrong.

Lips: I’m the type of person that sticks to nudes when it comes to lip products because I struggle to pull out there colours off as I’m so pale. Most of my lipsticks I own are from MAC but I get along so well with the ‘NYX Lip Lingerie’ collection. I own 3 and my favourite is ’04 Exotic’.  They dry completely matte and have a nice liquid texture when applying. Their also long lasting and tend to last for most of they day. To be fair for £6.50 I don’t think you could want much more from a liquid lip product.

Contour: I’m not a big fan of contouring or very good at it…instead I see it as a opportunity to add some colour to my pale skin tone. A product I’ve been loving is ‘Collection’s contour sticks’ for only £3!!! They blend like a dream and give a perfect colour to your face. I use mine in taupe and this works really well but there are other darker shades available.

So that’s all the products I have to mention in this post. Never when I started writing this did I realise it’d take 3 days to complete!

If you’d like a high-end version of this, be sure to let me know/leave a like on this post as I’ve really enjoyed writing this. Apologies for any spelling mistakes, I do not have the energy to proof read the whole thing right now! haha.

Be back soon,

Katie xoxo
